Sodwana Bay is South Africa’s underwater paradise with tropical reef diving. Sodwana Bay’s reef is home to 1200 species of fish, which compared to 1800 on the Great Barrier Reef, with it being less than 1/10th the area!

Possible Sightings

The possibilities are endless.

Manta Rays, Potato Bass, Humpback Whales and Ragged Tooth Sharks in season, Seahorses, Nudibranchs’, Shrimps, Schools of various fish life, eels, and various other marine life.

Best Time To Visit

There is no best time to visit Sodwana Bay, as the diving is great all year around. Water temperature ranges from 20-28 degrees, so it is never cold.

December to April – Whalesharks and Manta Rays

June to October – Humpback Whales

December to February – Ragged-Tooth Sharks

December to February – Nesting Loggerhead and Leatherback Turtles
